The 1.4 km twin-bore tunnel connects Silvertown Way/Lower Lea Crossing (A1026) on the north side with the Blackwall Tunnel Approach (A102) on the south side, aligning similarly to the London cable car route.
Roads approaching the tunnels will be clearly sign-posted, but there's no payment barrier or booth, so you'll need to be aware that you've used the crossing, and it's then your responsibility to pay the toll charge.
When the charge goes live on 7th April 2025, you'll be able to pay the Silvertown Tunnel charge speedily on Caura. Simply download the app and pay without any extra fees. You can also activate Caura AutoPay and we'll automatically charge your card anytime you drive into the tunnel.
